Area Care Manager
Helping Hands has been caring since 1989. We’re proud to deliver high-quality, person-centred care across the UK. We’re now looking for a passionate and experienced Area Care Manager to lead and inspire our branch teams across London and Kent.
About the Role
As an Area Care Manager, you will be responsible for the operational leadership of multiple branches, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and profitable care services. You’ll work closely with Registered Branch Managers to maintain compliance, drive performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
You’ll be a key figure in managing customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and commercial success. This role requires a strong leader who can balance strategic planning with hands-on support, and who thrives in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible and effective leadership to Branch Care Managers
- Deliver excellent customer service standards and resolve escalated complaints
- Ensure branches meet compliance standards and achieve high CQC/CIW ratings
- Monitor and improve quality performance using data and insight
- Lead recruitment, retention, and succession planning across the area
- Manage financial performance and contribute to business planning
- Support new branch openings and relocations
- Act as a point of escalation for out-of-hours issues and safeguarding concerns
- Collaborate with internal teams including Finance, Quality, Recruitment, and Marketing
- Build strong relationships with external stakeholders such as local authorities and families
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience managing multi-site teams in a regulated healthcare environment
- Strong understanding of care regulations and best practice
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Financial and commercial acumen
- Experience in performance management, recruitment, and employee relations
- IT literate, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with care rostering systems
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable:
- Experience in home care and private/publicly funded care delivery
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
